Another Highlands 2021 Summer’s day on Saturday brought varying weather conditions. All sport went ahead as planned with plenty of Chev teams in action. It was a big day for Basketball at home with all the Boys and Girls teams playing.
Our 1sts Cricketers finally managed to get a game on the immaculate Main Oval turf.
The Boys Basketballers at school all played well but came up against strong opposition from Redlands, Oakhill and St Augustine’s. Our only winners in the Boys were Patrick Bartletts 14B boys against Redlands. Chev’s best was Tanishq S.
Despite the score lines, the Chev A teams played their best games of the season.
For the 13’s Angus B. stood out. The 14’s Cooper M. was the best. For the 15’s Will B. led the way. The 15B’s were best served by Cooper M. The 17’s best was Jet O. And for the 1sts Luka N. never stopped trying.
For the Girls Basketball at home, the Inter Girls had a very enjoyable contest against Redlands. For Chev the best was Annabel B.
The Junior A game was a top of the table clash with the Chev Girls just getting ahead in the final minutes. Chev’s best for the Juniors were Sophie T. and Grace B.
The Junior Cricketers bowled really well again against Bowral to knock them over for only 75 runs. The batsmen once again did their job with Rohan D. – the best in the run chase.
The 1sts Cricketers were in all sorts of trouble batting until Kurtis A. and Liam H. steadied things with a solid partnership. The bowlers did their job with Liam H. once again starring with 3 wickets and a superb catch.
The Chev Touch Football Girls playing away at Central Coast Grammar, Redlands and Oxley were all winners.
The good results all round is a testament to the team cohesion and quality coaching which is really paying off.
Most of the Chev teams will now be playing in the finals following their continued good results.
Special mention to our Year 12 Basketballers and Softballers who have now played their final games for Chev at school.
And a late mention to our ever-growing Mountain Bike Team who travelled early to Canberra on Sunday to compete in the “Willo” MTB Championships.
Past student and World Mountain Bike Champ’ James Williamson would have been proud of all the Chev kids who all had a crack – many of our Year 7s competing in an event for the first time.
