Issue #16 – Building Resilience: The Case for Failure
Those in education have been implementing strategies to foster resilience and personal/educational growth for a number of years. You may be aware of Chevalier College’s commitment to fostering a growth mindset in students, and more recently, on the visible learning strategies implemented school wide. As a school, we need your help as parents and caregivers to help encourage a growth mindset not just in the classroom, but in all aspects of life.
The following link succinctly sums up the argument for a growth mindset focus and allowing children to build resilience. The evidence on the value of allowing children to experience some adversity and failure to foster psychological and educational growth is overwhelming.
