Chev Show Team at the Kangaroo Valley Show

The 2020 Kangaroo Valley Show was held over the weekend (14-16 February) and despite the really challenging summer with bushfires and then lots of rain, this resilient community put on a great show!

The Chevalier College Show Team did an amazing job at the show on Friday, especially as many in the team were Year 7’s with no previous experience, while the seniors were on Year 12 retreat.

The Chev team was awarded first and second in the heifer class; first and second in the senior cow class; and champion light weight steer. Kate Bartolo came third in paraders.

The following students have qualified for Sydney Royal ‘Paraders’ (there were 45 entrants for this class but only 10 get chosen, plus two reserves): Josh Halliday (Crookwell Show last weekend); Casey Halliday; Sarah Pace; and Sarah Morton (Reserve).

Sarah Pace also qualified for Junior Judging. They made comment that she had one of the highest judging scores at the Kangaroo Valley Show (possibly only beaten by Darcy Howard’s record). Sarah also spoke very well on the microphone!

Stand-out performances from behind the scenes and for team-work goes to: Charlotte Freer, Monty Goulder and Will Dunkley. Will, has just started at Chev in Year 7 and worked hard all day, showing great initiative.

BIG THANKS also go to: Jen Caine, Peggy Handley, the Junior Sydney Team, Kaelan Read and Lily Holmes (from the Class of 2019); Colin Davies – our amazing truck driver – for getting the cattle down and back safely and not getting bogged on the show grounds!; our drivers – Adrian Burgess and Michael McCueand Brother Gerry for being a great ribbon holder – we all love having you there!

This really was a group effort!
