Sarah was raised in Moss Vale and attended Chevalier College from 1989-1992. Sarah graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Economics (Social Sciences) in 2000 and from the University of Technology with a Bachelor of Laws in 2005, after which she was admitted to legal practice. Sarah has worked in industrial relations and employment law since 1998, including in the Australian Public Service and for the National Farmers Federation. In 2017 Sarah was appointed as a Commissioner of the Fair Work Commission, where she is currently National Practice Lead for the Commission’s bullying and sexual harassment jurisdiction.

Deputy Chair

Peter grew up and attended school and university in Wollongong. Peter holds qualifications as a surveyor, a Bachelor of Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration. After spending nearly 30 years in civil and mining construction and holding roles from operations through to Chief Executive, Peter changed paths, and for more than 10 years has been a Chief Executive and Company Secretary within the residential aged care sector. Peter is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Justice of the Peace. Of Peter’s five children, the two youngest have attended Chevalier College with the youngest still attending. Peter and his wife Angela live in Bowral.

James attended Chevalier College from 1997 until 2002. After graduation, he spent time in the Australian Army where he trained at RMC Duntroon. James left the military and began a mature aged apprenticeship as a carpenter, working his way from the tools to a foreman role specialising in high end residential construction. James developed the required skills and was employed as a project manager 13 years ago and has since worked in both the residential and the commercial world. He has also obtained in the process a Diploma in Project Management. James brings a strong construction management skill set to the role and works currently as a Senior Project Manager for a commercial builder in Sydney. Both James’ children attend the College.

Tristan, a past student, attended Chevalier College as a boarder from 1990 -1992. He has worked in development and construction for the past 26 years. With a diploma and 1st class honours undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, along with postgraduate qualifications in business administration, Tristan pursued a career in construction and development management in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Australia. His experience has seen him successfully deliver over $8bn worth of construction projects for primary and secondary schools, dedicated healthcare facilities for school aged children, hospitals and commercial construction, and data centre deployments. With significant experience in property development, master planning and construction along with a robust knowledge of risk, governance and process management, Tristan offers Chevalier invaluable experience.

Alison has had a long-term association with the MSC, beginning with an involvement with an MSC sponsored Vietnamese refugee community in the 1980s. This was followed by 27 years of teaching at Chevalier College before she moved on to work with the wider Chevalier Family as Director of the Chevalier Institute. In retirement, among other interests, Alison is the chair of the International Council of Laity of the Chevalier Family, working towards the establishment of supportive networks at the international, national and local level in the 46 countries where lay members of the Chevalier Family exist. Alison is committed to the possibility that Spirituality of the Heart, as a way of life, can contribute to both the wider institutional church and also to humanity more generally,

Lyn attended Chevalier College along with her two brothers before going on to ANU. She studied science at ANU and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Lyn has held a variety of positions, working in the public and private sectors. Lyn has now retired from her executive career with her last appointment being deputy head of the Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Lyn has been on a number of boards as a non-executive director. Lyn is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Australian Institute of Management and was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2013.

Sophia has lived in the Southern Highlands for over 10 years having emigrated from the UK with her family in 2011. Both her children attended Chevalier College. Sophia is a registered nurse having completed a Bachelor of Applied Science at the University of Brighton. She has worked in a variety of nursing specialties in the public and private sector both in Australia and the UK with her focus primarily being within critical care, education and quality. More recently she worked as the infection prevention and control manager at Southern Highlands Private Hospital and is currently employed at Wollongong Private as a Clinical Nurse Educator.

Chris is the Director, MSC Education, and as such he is the MSC Provincial Superior’s delegate on the Chevalier College Board, and also the Boards of Downlands College, Daramalan College and Monivae College – our sister schools. Prior to this appointment he was Principal at Chevalier College from January 2008 to December 2022. Chris has served on various committees/boards in education, parishes and sporting associations. He is currently a member of the MSC Education Members Council and the National Council of the Laity of the Chevalier Family. With a deep love of the MSC way of being, Chris’ focus is supporting Leadership Teams and Boards in their work as they continue to strive to ensure their college is a place where Spirituality of the Heart is central in the hearts and minds of all who are part of the community.

Greg commenced in the role of Principal, and in alignment with the governance arrangements of the College became a member of the Board at the start of 2023. Before his appointment to Chevalier, Greg served in a number of leadership positions, including Principal of St Luke’s Marsden Park, Secondary Schools Consultant in the Diocese of Broken Bay, and Principal of Mater Dei Catholic College in Wagga, where he stridently advanced the quality of learning and leadership. With a Master of Education – Knowledge Networks and Digital Innovation, a Master of Education – Catholic Leadership, and a Graduate Certificate in Boys’ Education, Greg epitomises lifelong learning.

MSC Education Members Council Representative

Rita is a member of the MSC Education Members’ Council, a body that oversees the four MSC schools in Australia. She was Principal of Daramalan College in Canberra for 12 years up until she retired in December 2020. Prior to that, Rita was Principal of St Clare’s College, Canberra, for 8 years. In addition to these roles Rita has been at various times the Chair of the ACT Association of Independent Schools, a member of Australian Catholic University Ltd and a member of the Catholic Education Commission of Canberra-Goulburn.

Melissa commenced at Chevalier College in July 2023 as the Director of Enterprise Services. Melissa is an experienced corporate services specialist with strong operational and financial acumen developed from holding management and board level positions in the professional, commercial and public sectors. Melissa has a Bachelor of Business degree and is a Chartered Accountant and Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
