At Chev, learning does not stop when the final bell rings. Many students choose to remain on campus after school to continue their study, complete assignments, collaborate with peers or prepare for upcoming assessments.
Students can access a range of purposeful learning environments designed to support both independent and supported study. These include the Library, the Student Independent Learning Centre (SILC) and Pi Shop.
Together, these spaces provide flexibility, structure and access to support, helping students build strong study habits and take greater ownership of their learning.
The College Library is a welcoming and well-resourced space that supports students across all year levels. It offers a quiet environment for reading, research and focused study, along with access to a broad collection of print and digital resources.
Students are encouraged to use the Library throughout the school day and after hours to strengthen their research skills, deepen their understanding of subject content and develop confidence as independent learners.
Library staff work closely with teachers to support learning programs and guide students in locating and evaluating information.
The Student Independent Learning Centre provides a structured environment where students can work productively on classwork, assignments or revision.
This space supports students who benefit from routine and quiet supervision while completing their work. It also allows students to develop organisation, time management and independent study skills that are essential for success in the senior years and beyond.
Pi Shop offers additional academic support for students studying mathematics.
Our mathematics teachers are available to assist students with concepts they may find difficult, helping to build confidence and strengthen understanding. This support complements classroom learning and encourages students to take initiative in seeking help when they need it.
Students can access these learning environments before and after school across the week.
Through the Library, SILC and Pi Shop, students are able to study on campus from 7.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Thursday, and from 7.00am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
This extended access reflects Chev’s commitment to supporting students in developing effective learning habits and making the most of the opportunities available to them.
