On Thursday 21 November the college Sustainability Committee launched a ‘WOW’ (Wipe Out Waste) initiative with a ‘Nude Food’ day at Chev.
It was heartening to see solid support for this event, with our Maintenance Supervisor Tony Sewell reporting a significant drop in litter and rubbish across the school grounds, despite the fact that playground bins were withdrawn from service on the day.
Students were asked to pack waste-free lunches in paper or sustainable wrapping and reusable lunch and drink containers.
Many of the students who participated were able to claim a ‘just’ reward – a sustainably made and wrapped Pure Pop or home-made fruit kebab – from the student leaders at lunch time.
The committee hopes to hold further ‘WOW’ days at Chev in 2020.
