In an important step forward for those who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart have now been formally declared as a participating institution under the National Redress Scheme.
Please read the letter we received from the Provincial of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart – Fr Chris McPhee – advising MSC communities including Chevalier College of this development.
Fr McPhee has also asked that the Open Letter he wrote at the end of last year – an-MSC-Apology-Letter-19-Oct-3-2 first circulated to the college community in 2018 – be republished.
More information about the National Redress Scheme can be found on their website at www.nationalredress.gov.au including the many support services that are available for those who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse https://www.nationalredress.gov.au/support/explore/nsw-redress-support-services
Alongside the National Redress Scheme the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart will also continue to provide support and assistance through the Professional Standards and Safeguarding Office contactable on 02 9665 8999 or emailing professionalstandards@misacor.org.au
Any person with information regarding historical abuse matters should contact their local police.
