Chevalier College has proudly won a Keep Australia Beautiful NSW 2019 Tidy Towns Award for the Return and Earn Litter Prevention Award for Schools in Category A (population up to 2000).
The Sydney Royal Show students have worked hard over the past two years to collect and return used drink containers through the Return and Earn deposit scheme which pays 10 cents for each container. Money raised goes towards the costs involved in participating in the show, such as accommodation and meals, and clipping the steers.
Collaborating with event organisers at the school, such as the Community Fair, Back to Chev weekend, the Presentation Ball and Valedictory Dinner, the Sydney Royal Show students have also helped to redirect the waste from these events for recycling through the scheme.
