The Sydney Royal Easter Show was attended by Verity Gett and 8 agriculture students from Chevalier College.
We exhibited three steers in the open/purebred section and carcass results were announced on Friday 9 April. Our Angus ‘Waylon’ won his class and was awarded a bronze medal. Our Charolais ‘Willie Nelson’ was awarded a bronze medal and was selected as a member on the Charolais Stan Hill team which came 2nd overall, a mighty achievement! Thank you to the McLachlan Group for assisting us with the supply of these animals.
Some of our team members assisted the Myona Charolais stud in exhibiting their cattle and were awarded the best maintained team in the Charolais section. Myona also won most successful exhibitor at the show!
The students learnt so much from this experience and even got to parade their cattle in the Grand Parade on both Friday and Sunday.
A huge thank you to the Myona stud from Coonamble for giving our students this opportunity.
All in all, we had a great week – despite the very early starts, the students enjoyed the experience and learnt so much about the cattle industry.
Chevalier College acknowledges and pays respect to the Gundungurra people, the Traditional Custodians of Country and the First People of the land on which our college is located.
