Weekend Sports Report – ISA Round 4
Yet another magnificent Saturday for any activities; Sunday was great as well so I hope everyone had a chance to enjoy the weekend.
In the sports department, all of our Basketball teams who played on Saturday were winners. The Boys B teams were at home against St Andrews and Oakhill and in particular Fred Duncans 15Bs and Karen Clarkson’s/Fiona McEvoy’s 2nds were very impressive.
The Girls travelled to Blue Mountains and St Andrews. Deb Rossiter’s Junior B team had another extra time thriller. Gav Bull’s Girls 1sts had a difficult game against BMGS, but prevailed at the final whistle. The Captain held the team together when it mattered, and was well supported by her key players.
In the softball, Rob Graham’s Junior A’s had this week’s road trip, travelling to Central Coast Grammar school. They continue on their successful way with good wins against strong opposition.
At home, Nicole O’ Brien’s 2nds hit off first against Oxley and despite a lopsided scoreline this great team of girls try their hearts out and really enjoy being together and playing on Saturday mornings.
Kim Delaney’s 1sts had their usual tight tussle with Oxley and some dropped catches in the 3rd innings proved costly, with Oxley getting more batters across the plate.
Finally this week, I’m very pleased to report that Bourkey’s Cricket 1sts had their first win against Stannies in Bathurst. Tight bowling restricted the home team to 139 – the best player taking 3 wickets for not many runs. The batsmen were off to a great start with a stand of 71 from the openers. One of the openers went on to score 60, and although a late order collapse sent hearts racing, the team managed to get the required runs with plenty of overs to spare.
1sts Team Captains in recent weeks have really stepped up and influenced their particular team’s great results. They are all fine young sportsmen and women and great team leaders but, more importantly, fine ambassadors for our school.
