Three big CATs for The Boy from Oz

A huge WELL DONE to the cast, crew and staff of last year’s musical – The Boy from Oz – a dazzling showcase of Chev talent!

With no less than six nominations in this year’s prestigious CAT (Canberra Area Theatre) Awards, we are thrilled for our winners in three categories:  The Boy from Oz – Best Production of a School/Youth Musical; Jacob Sgouros as Peter Allen for Best Youth Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical; Isabel Clarke as Judy Garland for Best Youth Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical.

Kate Price, Director of this thoroughly entertaining production is still beaming with pride, “based on the high calibre of the nominations for youth musicals we were very humbled by our success. We knew the talent of the cast was outstanding and the whole show came together beautifully. We also had a fabulous crew who worked tirelessly to bring The Boy from Oz to the stage. Jacob and Isabel wish to pursue careers in theatre and these major awards have given them the confidence to do this!”  Kate also thanks Chevalier College, “we were always fully supported in our choice of musical which gave us the courage to present a part of musical history. Winning Best Musical was a bonus!!”

Congratulations also go to Greg Oehm (Chev teacher), on the win by Pigs Fly Productions’ Little Shop of Horrors.  As Musical Director for this show Greg said “the vocal trio worked hard to give knock-out performances every night, again at the Awards on Saturday, and deserved to win their award for Best Ensemble in a Musical.”

Congrats to Chev teacher and musician Greg Oehm (right) celebrating Pigs Fly Production's win for their Little Shop of Horrors 'Best Ensemble in a Musical' - with Lou Vella and Fiona Jowett.
