Thredbo 2017 Mountain Biking AIS Champions
Under cloudless skies and a very warm 28 degrees in the Snowy Mountains on the weekend of 18-19 March, the Chevalier College Mountain Bike Team shone in their events at the Thredbo 2017 Australian Inter-Schools Championships.
With 43 Chevalier riders all up, it was a great event and a very successful weekend for our MTB team who came away with an impressive list of titles and placings, with:
- 2 individual Australian XC titles
- 1 Australian Flow-Trail Championship
- 4 individual second places
- 2 Australian Teams titles
Cameron Butcher (Year 11) is the Australian Senior Boys’ Champion, following in the footsteps of previous Chevalier Australian School Boys’ Champions Rob Kell (2011) and Bryce Clarke (2013). Seren Johnson (Year 10) is the Australian Intermediate Girls’ Champion. Jonathan Fudge is the Australian Flow-Trail Champion, and he missed out by just 3 thousandths of a second in the Australian Downhill Championship! Luke Skelly (Year 7) gained 2nd place in the Australian Junior Boys’ Championship; and our intermediate level girls’ team gained 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places to take the Intermediate Girls’ Team title!!!! A sterling feat by Seren Johnson, Phoebe Clarke, Courtney Knight and Holly Boyle.
As well, our junior boys took the Junior Boys’ Team title – with team members: Brinley Adams, Rowan Ashworth, Hamish Cochrane, Jayden Day, Cooper Doyle, Jakob Economos, Hugo Fay, Nathan Gray, Jack Harris, Liam Hatton, Harrison Johnston, Jack McCallum, Luka Nimac, Patrick Nyholm, Harry Pinczi, Anatole Rheinberger, Patrick Ryan, Xavier Sedger, Luke Skelly, Lucas Temporali, Jye Van Grootel.

Well done to all involved – the competitors, the winners, the placers and the wonderful staff and supportive families who made it all happen so well!
