Sports Report – Summer Round 6

The final round of ISA Sport for 2018 was played in near perfect Summer conditions on Saturday 1 December. On home grounds there was Basketball, Cricket, Softball and Touch Football.

The Girls Touch Football has proved extremely popular and enjoyable. The Chev teams are doing well in both the Seniors and Junior competition. On Saturday the Seniors took on Barker College and the Juniors played St Spyridon and Oxley.

The Open A teams found the Barker girls a little too fast and skillful. The Open Bs finished up with a win and a draw. The Junior A local derby finished in Oxley’s favour, and the Junior B team went down to a last minute try against St Spyridon.

In the Basketball the girls were at home playing arch rivals Central Coast. The fixtures were all hotly contested, in particular the Junior A and 1sts matches.

The Junior A Girls started and finished well with Sienna Rossi and Darcy Bull top scoring.

The 1sts game was close throughout and Chev finished 7 points clear at the finish.

Summer Lewis and Georgia Genner were good throughout the match, and Phoebe Johnson enjoyed her final match for her school team.

For the Chev 2nds Girls, Ella Benson scored most of the points. The Inters tried hard, none more so than Sophie Irvine and Maeve Sullivan.

The Softball at Oxley was also the local derby. Our Senior Girls were coming off good wins over St Andrews.

The Chev 1sts had a big 16-3 win with great batting and fielding. Lili Johnson and Sage Herrod brought off a couple of spectacular catches.

The 2nds match was close with Oxley getting home in the end 15-9.

In the Cricket it was the 2nds team at home against Redfield and some solid batting by Nick Colgan and Harry Pinczi saw our boys post their highest total of the season.

Harry Pinczi took 4 wickets to give Chev a sniff of victory but they could not get the vital 5th wicket and Redfield ran down the total.

So that’s it for Saturday sport in 2018.

Teams and Coaches look forward to a well-earned break and a return to competition in 2019.
