Sports Report – ISA Round 6

Sports Report – ISA Round 6

There was a host of sport to watch from the sidelines, track side or on the couch this weekend. Chev had Rugby, Tennis, Netball and almost all the Soccer teams at home on a windy, cool Saturday. There were top of the tables clashes against visiting schools in all of these sports.

The Tennis teams took on St Patrick’s and the Chev A boys used the home court conditions to their advantage to win 5 sets to 3. A good all round team effort with Matthew Pech our star performer to take this team into the top two in the competition.

The Rugby boys fared better than the Wallabies with some really big scores recorded by the 13s, 14s and 16s. Sam McMahon 13s and Matt Parkes 14s were the try scoring stars for their respective sides.

Sean Green’s 15s went close but one conversion by Redlands was the difference in the end.

The 1sts had a tight contest for the opening half with 2nd paced Redlands before stretching out with some high quality attack in the second half.

In the Netball at home the Junior A and Inter A teams both had very close games against Blue Mountains and Barker respectively.

The Junior A girls held their nerve to triumph by 3 points. The Inter girls match went the other way with Barker getting the goals at the end of the game to win by 4.

Special mention to the teams on the road with the Inter C girls having their first win of the season.

In the Girls Soccer, the Chev 1sts had a great 4-1 victory against St Paul’s to go to top spot on the competition table. The goalscorers with 2 apiece were Mia Henderson and Georgia Hampshire.

In the Boys Soccer 1sts it was also 1 V 2 on the table and the Chev boys managed a 2-1 win with goals from Pat King and Jordan Provino.

The 16s had a good win against St Pat’s with goals from Aidan Finlan and Romain Gregoire.

The Hockey teams were away on the Central Coast, Redlands and up in the Blue Mountains where it was a wee bit chilly.

The 1sts playing Central Coast just cannot be split these days with all recent games ending in draws.

In a 2-2 tie where Chev led for most of the match the goalscorers were Tessa Good and Anna Petersen.

2018 NSW All Schools XC MTB Champions – Chevalier College

To finish off this weekend the Chev Mountain Bike team were up very early on Sunday morning to travel to Springwood for the NSW Inter Schools event.

Very pleasing to report that we had wins in the Junior Boys Division, Senior Boys Division, and best of all ‘NSW Champion School’.

Congratulations to all Mountain Bike riders for this great achievement!
