Sports Report – ISA Round 3

We had a picture perfect Autumn day for sport on Saturday.  Goodbye wind and rain, and all players and spectators certainly appreciated the improved conditions.

Chev’s Main Oval looked a picture and the 15s and 16s Rugby Boys who played on it really enjoyed their matches, running in lots of tries. Unfortunately for our Rugby 1sts there was not a lot to celebrate as they were soundly beaten by a slick Redfield team. Conor Balaam was our lone try scorer and he and Cody Mills were the best in our team who tried hard but were outplayed.  No doubt the boys will be working extra hard at training this week to reverse this weekend’s result.

It was a different story for the 1sts Soccer Boys who went behind early against Redfield but clawed their way back into the game and ended up running out convincing winners 4-1. Goals were scored by Morgan Horn (2), Marko Laus and Jeremy Van Den Bogaerde. Best players were Ikani Vaitohi, Hugh McRae, and Morgan Horn.

Chev Boys’ Soccer teams also doing well on Saturday were the 15s, 16s and 14Cs.

In the Girls’ Soccer our 1sts came home disappointed from St Andrews and will have to work a little harder at training. The 2nds and 3rds Girls were winners and this has come about with some really hard work and application to improve their fitness and skills. The Junior As continue on their goal scoring ways with a big win against St Andrews.

Our Tennis 1sts had a successful day at St Pius with Gabbi Murphy and Finn Corbett really playing well and winning all their matches against strong opposition.

The senior Hockey and Netball teams were all playing Barker College. The 1sts matches were close but the home sides were winners at the final whistle. The 2nds and Inter B Netballers managed to win against the strong Barker teams in Netball and the 3rds Hockey Girls had a big 3-0 win.

On the home Netball courts we hosted St Spyridon, Central Coast and St Andrews. Central Coast just got the better of our Junior A2 and C teams, but the other Chev teams ended up winners in the first day of Netball at home. All the Netball teams play at home this week so we look forward to another exciting day of sport.
