Sports Report – ISA Round 2
Conditions for sport were much drier than Round 1, but a cool and breezy day greeted competitors at the outdoor venues.
Firstly, hats off to all of the students who were involved in the school musical and managed to squeeze a game of sport in on Saturday morning between shows. I have no doubt that these multi-talented students rested well over the remainder of the weekend.
Our Soccer teams have been lucky to have been able to play the matches scheduled at school. Both the Girls and Boys 1sts Teams had good wins on Saturday – 3-0 score lines in both. The Girls outplayed Redlands and the scorers were Lilly Lema, Sarah Stockman and Amy Powell. For the Boys the scoreline another 3-0 win over Blue Mountains. On the scoresheet were Connaugh McEvoy Maggs, Nick Bell and Morgan Horn. Other soccer teams who have started the season on fire are the Girls Junior A team and the Boys 14A side.
The Tennis teams travelled to Lane Cove to play Redlands in their first matches of the season. All matches were close affairs and our players did well, but Redlands finished in front on the final points tally. Special mention to 1sts team member Gabbi Murphy who had all her wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday, but bravely played on Saturday and won her matches!
The Hockey at home was good to watch with loads of goals for the 2nds, 3rds, and Junior teams. The 1sts had a tight match with Oxley and the teams could not be separated at the final whistle. Chloe Gardner-Snowden was our goalscorer.
The Rugby boys finally got their season underway against All Saints and a good day’s rugby was witnessed by a good crowd of spectators. Wins for the 13s and 16s paved the way for a good first up showing by the 1sts. Ball control was a little off as could be expected, but Chev still managed 5 tries to run out winners 31-13. Best performers were Liam O’Malley, Captain Jack Parsons, Lachlan Huntington and rookie Ned Kastelein.
The Open Netballers had a tough day away against Oakhill, as did the Inters at Oxley. Well done to the Inter C team who had an early start and an early game against St Spyridon but came home happy winners.
So we look forward to Round 3 and another dry week in store. Although the wind can be turned off please! Check the Results for ISA Round 2-Saturday 9 May 2015
