Sports Report – ISA Finals

Our sporting teams headed north west on Saturday 7 March for the ISA Finals, with the Basketballers competing at Penrith and the Softballers at Blacktown.

Our Girls Basketballers were first on the courts in a huge day of finals.  Our Junior A & B teams were competing in the early matches of the day. The As played well but went down against Central Coast, while the Bs were successful in a one point nail-biter against Redlands.

Next up for the Girls were our 2nds and Inters.  The 2nds  unfortunately went down by 2 against Blue Mountains, but the Inters had a very good win against St Pauls.

Down the Great Western Highway at the Softball the Chev teams were split over 3 diamonds for the opening semi-finals.  The Junior As took care of Oxley , the Bs unfortunately made a couple of crucial mistakes to go down 5-4, and the 1sts started slowly but really lifted to edge out Oxley 9-7.  So that meant Finals fixtures for the Junior A and 1sts Teams.

The 1sts were up against Barker and played extremely well, but found the opposition just a bit too strong.  The Junior As started strongly as they needed to and built up a big lead which was never going to be chased down.  The final score of 21-6 was a reward for a great season and a lot of hard work.

In the Boys Basketball we had 6 teams in the finals.  Our 1sts began proceedings and in a great contest they ended up going down by 3 points.  The 14s played really well against St Pat’s and the 2 point winning scoreline was probably closer than it should have been. Our 15As have been dominant in their division all season and finished it off with a 20 point win.  The 15Bs had another great season and, although going down to Redlands, can be proud of their efforts.  Likewise the 2nds can be satisfied with their season, all boys playing their final game of Basketball for Chev.

Our 1sts started slowly, very slowly in fact. The team rallied and a couple of great quarters saw them in front at 3/4 time.  The final quarter was an end to end affair with the Chev boys doing everything to get ahead.  But it was St Greg’s at the buzzer who pulled away in the final seconds of the game.

The effort from all teams was commendable and all can reflect on a great season.  Click for Results table…
