Languages Day at University of Wollongong

Who are you?

Languages Day at University of Wollongong

On Friday 20 February a group of 40 Year 10 students of Italian and French at Chev attended the UOW Language Day.  The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and the presentations by university students, the Head of the Faculty of Arts Dr Karen Daley and a guest speaker, Dr Carl Mahfouz, who inspired us all with his ability to speak 11 languages!

As part of the whole group of 350 students from a large number of schools, the students took part in celebrity quizzes, were taken on a tour of the campus in groups of their target language and worked in these groups to devise a presentation, judged and voted on in the groups. These ‘finalists’ then presented to the whole audience and our French D group won the competition. Congratulations go to Nicholas Bermingham, Eden Carnegie-Reilly, Jack Gaynor and Declan O’Byrne Inglis for the win.

All the students who attended showed great participation and were wonderful representatives of Chevalier College.
