Languages Other Than English - LOTE

Chevalier College recognises the importance of languages and offers students the opportunity to study French, Italian or Japanese.

Chevalier College provides a very high quality education in languages enabling students to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of their rapidly changing world.  The College also recognises that the study of languages provides opportunities for students to become more accepting of diversity in their communities, more respectful of others and more aware of their place in the international community.

Students in Year 8 have the opportunity to study one of the languages and may then choose a language as an elective subject in Years 9, 10, 11 and 12.

Our Language Department teaching staff are experienced and dedicated users of a variety of teaching tools available in this the 21st century, in particular interactive whiteboards and online teaching.

The ability to communicate in French, Italian and Japanese enriches the opportunities for our students continued learning and for future employment, both domestically and internationally, in areas such as commerce, tourism, hospitality, politics and international relations.

French students travel regularly to New Caledonia
as part of both an Educational Tour and a
Cultural Exchange Program
between
our students and their
French counterparts.

We invite you to view our various photo galleries

There is also a combined tour to
Italy and France every two years

Chevalier College has a sister school,
Murasakino High School, Japan,
which provides our students with
opportunities to host Japanese
students, and to visit and
study in Japan.
