Chevalier College 2015 NSW Mock Trial Champions!
Chevalier College has claimed its second NSW Mock Trial Champions title with a victory on Friday 11 December 2015 over St John Paul College of Coffs Harbour.
A jubilant Steve Holmes, Mock Trial Team Coordinator at Chev, writes:
“Well we did it! After beginning in February it came to an end at Sydney University with an historic win. The NSW Law Society’s competition has been running since 1981. We have now become only the 8th school in NSW to win the Mock Trial Competition twice. No school has won it more than twice. Those schools are St Leo’s College (Wahroonga), Loreto College (Normanhurst), The King’s School (Parramatta), Trinity Senior High School (Wagga, Wagga), MLC School (Burwood), Newtown High School of the Performing Arts (Newtown), Knox Grammar School (Wahroonga) and us!
It was the culmination of a year’s work and left our team undefeated after 10 trials. Harry Fenton was given due recognition and awarded best advocate (barrister), receiving a $5000 cash prize. He thoroughly deserved it.
Thanks to all who attended or sent best wishes, even from as far away as Italy. Congratulations to our students who won’t get the chance to walk into school this week as State Champions. Celebrations will have to wait until after the school holidays. Our team was Harry Fenton and Jennifer Murnane (barristers), Magill Lee (solicitor), Annabelle Devitt (Magistrate’s Clerk), Mariette Lewis and Brodie Ackroyd (witnesses). They were amazing and beat a very strong opponent.”
