Sports Report – ISA Summer Round 2
The 2nd Round of the ISA Summer competition was history-making with the very first games of Touch Football being played at Chev.
The newly established Touch Football girls competition is underway and the Chev Open Girls had a great start at home on Saturday.
The Open A Girls played Oxley and had a great 4-1 win with Mackenzie Edwards scoring the first ever try.
The Open B Girls played two games and were successful with wins against Redlands 5-0 and Oxley 6-0.
Millie Horn starred in the opening game with 4 tries and Georgie Cochrane in the second match with 4 tries as well.
The Junior Girls over at Oxley also had an enjoyable morning of competition and we all agree that Touch Football is a great addition to the ISA sporting program.
The Boys Basketballers at Moss Vale had a clean sweep against Redfield with a couple of big scorelines. None more so than the 1sts with another 100+ points being recorded. Our boys got off to a fast start and did not stop scoring. Best on court were Tyler Ottosson, Jarrod Cook and Patrick King.
All other teams at home won by convincing margins. In the 13s, Naz Christie and Will Burke were the main scorers. For the 14s it was Matt Butcher finding the hoop. Riley Ottosson claimed the bulk of the scores for the 15s; and for the 17s, Tynan Cheers was a standout.
The only Girls Basketball team at home was the Junior Cs who commenced the day in nail-biting fashion with the game going to sudden death overtime. Thankfully, the Chev girls managed to get the crucial basket to win an exciting match against St Paul’s. Shooting stars were Sienna Krebs and Emerson Markovina.
Softball also commenced on home turf with our girls playing St Paul’s. The Junior team started with a good 21-12 win. The Open Girls faced some excellent pitching and struggled to score runs. Special mention to Clare Rhodes who pitched for 1sts and 2nds.
On the Cricket scene, our 1st Boys were up in Campbelltown against St Gregory’s. Darcy Murchie top scored with the bat with 56 and had a strong partnership with James Good. Dom Haire was our best bowler with 4-16 and the 1sts managed to secure another victory.
